The Puerto Plata province is complete, it has everything that as a tourist you could want to see from a tropical destination, from beautiful beaches, amazing rivers, the people that inhabit the region to the local cuisine and to enjoy and see everything the province and the north coast have to offer I generally suggest the village of Cabarete as the place to stay.

Cabarete is a small, laid-back Caribbean beach village located only 20 minutes away from the Puerto Plata International Airport on the northern shore of the Dominican Republic. It’s a perfect tropical vacation spot. With its charming, cool ambience and a combination of relaxed and adventurous lifestyles it has something to offer everyone. Cabarete beach is peppered with surfing schools, small charming restaurants and bars for when the sun goes down and the energy is still high.

The town is on an exceptional location not only for water-sports like kiteboarding and windsurfing, but for traditional surfing at the neighboring El Encuentro beach as well. The region is also the perfect place to just lay back to work on that perfect tan. It’s the best thing to do when you’re not out gliding over warm Caribbean waters, participating in some other adventurous sport, or taking in Cabarete’s extraordinary nightlife. Cabarete is a central location to explore all of the north coast of the island, allowing you to see all of what the province of Puerto plata offer while being close to the rivers, locals only beaches and natural attractions of the nearby provinces of Espaillat and Maria Trinidad Sanchez. Areas of the country few tourists get to enjoy, but never forget once they do.

The Dominican Republics north coast, once experienced never forgotten and you’ll want to come back for more!
